Anti-hiv Cds Unit Sensitizes Secondary School Pupils

The Anti-HIV CDS unit of Odeda Local Government Ogun State took its sensitization exercise to the pupils of Faith Heritage College, Eleweran, Abeokuta. The sensitization exercise was designed for secondary school students of the school and was attended by about fifty students.
The purpose was to educate the students about dangers of unprotected sexual intercourse with a broad focus on Sexually transmitted infections (STIs).

In his lecture, the CDS president Mr , Onwuka Chinedu Kester a pharmacist by profession took the student through what sexually transmitted infections are, types of sexually transmitted infections, symptoms, diagnosis and prevention and what to do should a student notice any of these symptoms.

The students were then engaged with games that buttresses​ the dangers of unprotected sex and reasons to practice abstinence as the ultimate guard against sexually transmitted infections.

The unit public relations officer, Mr Okpeye Chidi Peter took the final section and dealt extensively with HIV and AIDS, He address some misconceptions about HIV AND AIDS and the students took the opportunity to ask questions about the deadly virus.

In her remarks, the vice president, Grace Wilkins appreciate the school authority for the opportunity to serve our fatherland by granting us the permission to hold the sensitization in the school.

Students who participated in the games and those who answered questions were rewarded with gifts and the corps members seized the opportunity to take pictures with the students and their teachers. It was such a wonderful experience and we are aspiring to impact more lifes and create awareness among the younger generation in order to improve the general wellness of the society.

Ozak Esu Makes Telegraph’s “Top 50 Women In Engineering” List - Career

Nigerian Dr. Ozak Esu was recently named as one of the Top 50 Women Under 35 in Engineering in the United Kingdom by Telegraph. The list is compiled annually by Telegraph in collaboration with the Women’s Engineering Society (WES) with an aim to boost women’s participation in engineering. The 50 awardees were selected from a list of over 500 nominees. Ozak Esu left Nigeria for the UK in 2008 to study an IET accredited B.Eng in Electronic and Electrical Engineering at Loughborough University. She completed her Ph.D in the same university in 2015, and currently works at a top engineering consultancy company in the UK. She has said that the energy problem in Nigeria is what inspired her to study Electronic and Electrical Engineer at the university. She shared photos of her at the award on her Instagram.
